Experience

Maya Haddad grew up in Montreal’s Lebanese quarter, where she became passionate about preserving traditional music. She founded the “Cedar Beats Ensemble” in 2015, a volunteer group that teaches young Canadians dabke and oud playing. Under her direction, the group performed at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and was later invited to showcase Lebanese folk rhythms at schools across Quebec. Maya believes her work bridges generations by keeping heritage alive in a modern setting.
