Alexandre Paulikevitch, a Lebanese performer, has been drawing large audiences with dance shows in Beirut in which he wears traditionally feminine attire, such as dresses and makeup. Despite threats from conservative sectors, his performances have gone ahead, using art to question gender norms and highlighting performance as a form of resistance in times of political, social, and economic instability.
